Meet Aaron Hayes

Educator. Advocate. Leader.

Aaron Hayes is a lifelong Pacific Northwest resident with a deep-seated commitment to the families and schools of North Idaho. From the classroom to the negotiation table, Aaron has spent his career fighting for the resources our students and teachers need to succeed.

A Proven Leader for Our Schools

Since 2010, Aaron has been a fixture in local education. Currently a middle school band and orchestra teacher in the Coeur d’Alene School District, he understands the daily challenges facing our classrooms.

Aaron doesn't just teach, he leads. As the former President of the Coeur d’Alene Education Association (2022–2025), he was a fierce advocate for educators and a key voice in the district’s critical levy races. He knows how to bring people together to protect our schools’ future.

Deep Roots & Academic Excellence

Aaron’s North Idaho values are backed by a world-class education. A graduate of North Central High School, Washington State University, and Stony Brook University (SUNY), he holds:

  • A PhD in Music

  • Master’s & Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy

His academic background gives him a unique, analytical perspective on the history and politics that shape our community today.

Family & Community

For Aaron, this work is personal. He and his wife, Lauren, a dedicated librarian, are raising their two sons in Coeur d’Alene. Whether they are exploring the outdoors or practicing their instruments, Aaron’s boys are the reason he is so invested in ensuring our local schools remain a point of pride for every neighbor.
